The situation facing dialysis treatment is another example of the deterioration in access to healthcare in Yemen. The war is crippling the healthcare structure capacity to respond to health needs. The Yemeni Ministry of Health has not been able to support dialysis centers in Yemen as the war has led to import restrictions hindering the ministry’s ability to cover the needs of the dialysis centers. On 26 July, MSF in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Health will be holding a seminar to sound the alarm on the challenges facing the dialysis treatment in Yemen and call international organizations to step in and start supporting dialysis treatment centers in Yemen. Most of the functioning dialysis centers in Yemen lack supplies causing interruptions in treatment to patients in need. MSF is calling on all organizations to support this particularly vulnerable population requiring uninterrupted life sustaining treatment.
