War-Wounded Syrians denied access to Jordan for 3rd month, MSF Ramtha project commemorates 3rd year

For three years, MSF’s emergency trauma surgical project in Ramtha hospital, less than 5kms from the Syrian borders, has been providing quality lifesaving medical treatment to war-wounded Syrians. Since the closure of Jordan’s borders with Syria on June 21, war-wounded have been repeatedly and systematically denied access into the Ramtha border town through Jordan's north-western borders. During the past three months, and working with partners in Syria, MSF was able to record at least 59 cases of denials of access to Syrian wounded, most of whom were children, who were in need of emergency evacuation into its Ramtha surgical project. However, MSF believes the number of those in need of immediate evacuation is much higher. Despite the situation, MSF’s Ramtha project marks its three year anniversary and continues to care for patients admitted before the borders were sealed.
