In 2015 MSF provided medical care and mental health, including psychosocial activities, to 9,130 Central Americans. These services are offered in different shelters of the migrants route: Tenosique (Tabasco), Mexico City, and Celaya (Guanajuato). In Mexico the effects of the implementation of the Plan Frontera Sur had been a major impact on migration movements. Fewer people choose to stay in shelters for fear of being arrested. Deportations are increasing and transportation and the routes that they used to choose are changed, this situation exposes our patients at high levels of violence in the traffic.

The hostel in Tenosique, called "La 72 ", is one of the shelters for migrants in Mexico busiest (3,452 migrants through the shelter in 2015 Source: hostel internal data and MSF staff ). This place is located south of the Border with Guatemala in the State of Tabasco, along the Usumacinta River.
