Paediatric and Maternity in Kabala Hospital

MSF OCBA started a new project after the Ebola Outbreak to support the Sierra Leone population and health system during the recovery phase.
The project was established in Koinadugu district at the beginning of 2016, supporting the main public district hospital (Kabala District Hospital), a secondary health care structure that provides lifesaving services to more than 400,000 people living in the district. In this hospital MSF supports the Paediatric and Maternity wards, the obstetric operating theatre, delivery room, neonatal ward, laboratory, blood bank, triage & isolation, ER & observation room.
Additionally, MSF provides primary health care services in one of the most remote parts of the district which allows us to reach populations unable to access lifesaving healthcare services.
Finally, MSF provides support to the ambulance system in the district. All the support provided is in collaboration with the Ministry of Health which is responsible for health infrastructure.
This combination aims to have a positive impact on maternal and child mortality in Sierra Leone while supporting the Ministry of Health during the recovery phase following the epidemic.
