People are not commodities, they are human beings, they have the right to access information on what is going to happen to them.

Our teams are working in Dhar el-Jebel detention center. It is one of the most remote detention centres. It is three hours drive from Tripoli, in the middle of nowhere.


Refugees and asylum-seekers here have been waiting for weeks to be [released] and evacuated to Tripoli, but the evacuation has been cancelled and postponed several times

We have been here for two years. There is no support for us. We are abandoned in Zintan, without an end in sight.

We don’t have hygiene kits, we don’t have tents, we don’t have blankets, we have to sleep on the ground.

People were asked to dismantle their makeshift shelter in the detention center, which means they are left without anything to keep out of the cold. It is winter here, it’s getting cold, so the situation is deteriorating. hat’s why we distribute winter clothes, so at least people can protect themselves.

All people here have already been detained severaltimes in Libya, some were kidnapped and tortured for ransom.

They tell us they have lost allhope, they have lost hope that somebody will ever come to help and to protect them.

We demand Libyan authorities and UN agencies to fulfill the commitment they have given to the refugees and asylum seekers still being detained in Dhar el-Jebel detention center.
