I was told that he is suffering from malnutrition which they said was due to hunger.

But I was thinking it could be because of something else.

In Nigeria, insecurity is a direct cause of malnutrition which is affecting millions of Nigerian children.

The situation is really affecting our means of livelihood.

We can no longer get food stuff from retail shops because their goods are being stolen.

They stole out cattle, sheeps, goats and poultries.

My son Umar Jamilu has been sick.

I took him to the facility (ATFC) at ‘Yaddara and explained to them he’s been vomiting and passing watery diarrhea.

They referred us to this hospital where he’s being treated, and he is now feeling better, except for this wound here, which is also healing.

He is being fed with milk and is given his medication on time.

He was vaccinated when he was six months old.

Then, we didn’t have security challenge.

We had a hospital and he received it there.

But the hospital was closed due to insecurity, and everyone have fled.

In Katsina, 23 000 children have already been treated in MSF's feeding centres since the beginning of the year. More than 4,500 malnourished children had to be hospitalised, compared to 2,730 during the same period last year.
