The rainy season and subsequent flooding have destroyed critical roads and bridges that MSF and other humanitarian agencies use to bring supplies and humanitarian assistance into Darfur through eastern Chad.
Since the beginning of August, heavy rains have significantly hampered the movement of humanitarian supplies through Tine crossing. On August 8, intensifying rains and floodings washed off Mornei bridge, the lifeline connecting South and Central Darfur with Chad and West Darfur. On August 17, the dry valley that connects Adre with Darfur was flooded, and one MSF vehicle drowned, cutting the main axis for delivering humanitarian aid into Darfur.
