- Hello! This is Dr Christos Christou. I am the International President of Médecins Sans Frontières.

- I’m speaking to you from Port Sudan, and on behalf of our MSF teams, I want to relay to you that Sudan needs your attention.

- The crisis in Sudan is one of the worst we have seen in recent memory. Today, it is the world’s largest and fastest-growing internal displacement crisis and it’s spilling over to neighbouring countries.

- The conflict continues unabated in areas of Darfur, Khartoum, and various other states. Violence in large parts of Sudan is indiscriminate as the warring parties and their affiliates show complete disregard for the safety and security of the civilians and the rules of war.

- Amid the conflict, the health system is not being spared. The few remaining functional health facilities in Sudan are overstretched and are going out of service one by one due to attacks, looting, and lack of personnel.

- All warring parties and armed groups must ensure the protection of civilians, medical workers, and healthcare facilities.

- Both warring parties are making the provision of humanitarian assistance extremely difficult, either by imposing systemic restrictions on the movements of humanitarian personnel and supplies or by breaching the neutrality of the health facilities, harassing and intimidating medical personnel, and enabling a climate of insecurity.

- Despite the immense needs, the humanitarian response has not been able to scale up adequately. For an adequate scale-up of aid to take place in Sudan, warring parties must grant safe and unimpeded access to humanitarian workers and supplies across the borders and within the country.

- As MSF, we urge the international humanitarian community to direct more attention and resources towards Sudan to urgently scale up the humanitarian response.
