Acute watery diarrhoea surge put people at risk in Ibb and Al-Hodeidah

Yemen is experiencing a raise in the numbers of people suffering from Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD), a recurring annual trend while the country goes through worrying deterioration of healthcare services and humanitarian support. The resurgence is driven by years of protracted conflict, the collapse of the healthcare system, and inadequate Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure. Funding cuts to health and WASH, driven by donor fatigue and global constraints, are worsening an already fragile situation marked by economic decline, food insecurity, malnutrition, and climate shocks—leaving communities more vulnerable to waterborne diseases.
