In October 2024, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) upgraded the solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at Mudug Regional Hospital, Somalia, by expanding the infrastructure and installing new inverters and panels. This shift from diesel generators to a 60kW/30kW hybrid solar grid-tied system aims to cut fuel use, lower emissions, reduce costs, and ensure more reliable energy for critical healthcare services. With internet-connected monitoring, MSF can better track performance and maintain sustainability. In a country highly vulnerable to climate shocks, this investment supports both environmental goals and stronger, more resilient healthcare delivery.
