Whether in conflicts, natural disasters, or epidemics, women's regular health needs are becoming much more critical. Providing care for safe pregnancy and childbirth, responding to sexual violence, offering gynaecological consultations and preventing sexually transmitted infections and cervical cancer, are some of the ways MSF teams have made women’s health and wellbeing a priority around the world.

Each day, MSF medical teams assist more than 800 deliveries. Each year, our staff carry out 1.2 million antenatal and postnatal consultations, 600,000 consultations for contraception, and treat more than 30,000 victims of sexual violence.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Iraq, Honduras and many other contexts, this support can only take place with the contribution of women from the affected communities. As MSF staff members or volunteers, they are the heart of our activities, sharing their skills, experience, local knowledge and sense of solidarity to enable more women to have access to healthcare and social support.
