I think one image that stays with me is when we were leaving at the airport, the cargo section of the airport was quite bombed. And, you know,
this is key infrastructure of getting things in. So it was just a visual reminder of the war that continues now in its third year.

On April 15th,
a brutal civil war started between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF)
It's quite a difficult time and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Noor Teja is the cell Supply Referent managing supply operations in Sudan, South Sudan, Eswatini, and Mozambique for MSF Switzerland.
It's quite a difficult time to be in Eastern Sudan, especially in different areas in Khartoum, the movements are quite restricted. So you see the symptoms in different
things with high inflation rate, with the presence of things in the market,
with scarcity, access to goods for a lot of people.

As Khartoum was the epicentre of the violence, when the war started, the authorities moved to Port Sudan, as well as thousands of people who resettled in the eastern city.
MSF relocated its coordination team and warehouse in Port Sudan too.
It's a challenging environment to work in Sudan. So firstly, because there is limited air traffic, we can only use Port Sudan to bring goods in (the east of the country), be it by sea or by air.
Unfortunately, those key infrastructure points were also attacked recently in the drone attacks, so that further jeopardizes our ability to get things in.
There's many importation restrictions.
For some of our teams, we were not able to get goods in the east of Sudan for several months in the first half of 2025.
There's a lot of bureaucratic challenges that we're facing, which makes the supply chain quite constrained and difficult. So, what that means is we have
to have bigger orders or we try to get donations from places,
but trying to keep the patient in mind and see what can be done to get the needed items to them, especially when we look at Khartoum, the situation is evolving quite fast and to get key supplies there
for the patients is quite essential.

Getting supply for MSF activities in Sudan is extremely long and complicated. The processes are complex and lengthy. It takes several months to get essential supply into Khartoum for example. We have faced extreme challenges to get this medical supply to respond to the cholera outbreak that was raging in the Sudanese capital. We demand the authorities to put everything in place to fast track humanitarian supply into Sudan.
