Médecins Sans Frontières. MSF is supporting Bashair Teaching Hospital in Khartoum. In this war context, where often health structures are not spared Almost all health facilities are nonfunctioning. Some are simply damaged by the war, and if any remains, they are barely functional.



Bashair Teaching Hospital remains the only hospital in the area providing care to patients free of charge. Today, its functionality is being challenged day by day. One of the main challenges today we are facing is access to medical supply.



Medical supply to run the hospital, to care for patients, but also medical supply to care for our staff who are being affected by the ongoing dengue and malaria epidemics.

With all the challenges our staff in the hospital are facing. 21st September evening at around 10 p.m., a trauma case of a four-month-old baby called Riad arrived to Bashair Hospital emergency room. A trauma case of a gunshot on his right side of the chest, according to Riyadh's family. This incident has happened while the baby's sleeping in their house.



Our resilient medical staff, despite all the challenges and constraints they have, rushed into the emergency room and helped the baby in the emergency room. Thanks to their efforts, thanks to their intervention. The baby is currently well and stable, but the bullet remains in inside his body. Our doctors are working and planning for further intervention to remove this bullet from his body again.
