In Nduta camp, malaria remains a serious threat. MSF responds to it by setting mosquito traps, analysing captured insects, and mapping the species most likely to spread the disease. This information enables our teams to strengthen prevention efforts and make our medical response more effective.
About MSF in Nduta
After violence erupted in Burundi in 2015, thousands of people fled into Tanzania’s refugee camp Nduta, one of the most chronically underfunded camp in the world that hosted up to 120 000 people in 201. In 2023, while the dismantling of the camp was being implemented as part of a voluntary return program, MSF kept providing medical services to refugees in the Nduta camp as well as to the surrounding community. We remain today the main healthcare provider in the camp and responded to a malaria upsurgedeclared in the camp in the summer 2023.
