Since 2017, the people of Northern Mozambique have been victim to violent attacks and an ongoing armed conflict.

Eufrasia works in MSF’s mental health activity in Cabo Delgado. Her family lived through a recent attack, escaping with their lives.

Eufrasia:
I went to pick up my niece from the hospital. My sister-in-law had to go in with my nephew because he had malaria and my niece, the moment she saw me, hugged me and shouted: - Auntie, I was very scared, I thought I would never see you again, I must not go back to that place. I told her: - you are not going back.
- Don't leave me, Auntie, promise me.
- I promise you won't go back. And I asked her: - Why are you barefoot?
- Auntie, did we have time to get slippers? I didn't have time, the only thing I wanted was to leave this place. You see, nobody has slippers, nobody has anything, we just brought our clothes.
