My family and I used to live in Kyiv. We saw how planes were falling down from the sky to the ground. We saw rockets, helicopters were flying up, up to our roof. That was terrible. So my wife told me to take our kids and to try to escape where it was a little bit safer. And we started to think what can we do to help. So we organised ourselves in public organisations and started to help people.

We help our visitors with some food and also with some clothes –used clothes and some new hygienic stuff, like towels, that we receive from MSF. We have the whole [of] humanity. We have families with young kids, just newborns. We have elderly people. We check their documents and ask what they need.

And if we have what they need we give it to them. That's my story. Each volunteer has his or her own story, but the main thing is about the same.
