ENG-SQ-MSF Supports Traumatized Community in Ukraine’s Yahidne Village

MSF has been running mobile clinics to provide medical and mental health care to people impacted by the conflict, including to more than 50 villages in Chernihiv oblast, north of the capital Kyiv. Yahidne village, in the south of Chernihiv, was caught in the conflict from early March to early April 2022.

When the shelling began, everything started shaking, falling on our heads. Children would scream, older people would start lamenting, wailing. [1:19]

It affected the mental health of everyone who was in that basement. [1:25]

There is no joy, only emptiness in the soul. Spring has come, something has blossomed. You planted something in the ground, you are happy. It used to be like that. [1:46]

Now, you walk with muted emotions. At night you go to bed and wait for an explosion to shatter the window.
