In September 2022 Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Border (MSF) is handing over its medical activities on the 21st September (Formerly Al Salakhana Hospital) in Hodeidah, Yemen to the local health authorities.
MSF started working in Al Salakhanah hospital in Hodeidah city four years ago to meet the needs of the war wounded close to the frontlines. Our medical teams supported the Ministry of Health to run an emergency room and operating theatres to provide emergency medical, surgical, and in-patient care for the most critical cases. The organisation also responded to seasonal outbreaks such as dengue and malaria and the various waves of COVID_19 outbreak.
Over the nearly past 4 years, MSF medical teams have received over 63,000 patients in the emergency room, performed 6,448 surgeries in the operation theatres. MSF also responds to epidemics and Neglected Tropical Disease such as malaria, dengue, and snakebites.
Our activity remains in Hodeidah in Ad Dahi rural hospital in emergency care, paediatric & neonatal care, and by supporting primary health care centres, and in Al-Qanawis Mother and Child Hospital.
