Additional Information / Shotlist I’m Ghosoon Ahmad Obeid from Beit Hussein in Wadi Khaled.
I have 8 children. We’re a family of ten with my husband and me.
Wadi Khaled, right where north of Lebanon meets the west of Syria, is one out of many impoverished rural areas in the country.
People living there rely mainly on agriculture.
We are four living here. We need a minimum of four or five packs of bread.
They cost at least 50 thousand LBP if the price of the pack stays 10,000 LBP. I can’t afford this.
I buy flour and make my own bread.
I carry the firewood on my back in order to do so.
In an area with 22 villages, there are no public primary healthcare centres.
People can’t afford transportation costs to reach other health facilities.
As a result, parents are forced to prioritize food over health expenses, including delaying their kids’ routine vaccinations.
If the organization didn’t offer vaccination here, I wouldn’t have been able to vaccinate my four children.
As part of Médecins Sans Frontières’ primary healthcare activities in Wadi Khaled,
MSF provides routine vaccinations for children in its local clinic.
MSF also visits villages across Wadi Khaled to conduct weekly vaccination campaigns.
Since 2021, MSF has vaccinated more than 5,000 children
We vaccinated our kids to protect them against potential infections,
especially since we are not registered in social security and don’t own any medicines.
We mainly did so to reduce the complications of any potential infection.
