Additional Information / Shotlist In southern Yemen, MSF responds to the consequences of unrest and violence
by supporting emergency rooms and hospitals in Lahj, Aden, Ad-Dali and
Abyan governorates.

Since August 2011, MSF has been organising the transfer of serious cases
from Abyan to hospitals in Aden, taking charge of secondary and surgical
healthcare.

Between January and May 2012, more than 3,000 patients were treated at the
Jaar Health Post and over 1,500 at the Lawdar Emergency Room in Abyan. Some
200 patients were referred to Aden, of which, more than a third were trauma
cases related to violence, with the vast majority being civilian victims.

In April 2012, MSF opened an emergency surgical center in Aden which
receives referrals of obstetric, paediatric and violent trauma causes from
Abyan, Ad-Dali, Lahj and Aden. The 40-bed facility received 115 new
admissions in its first two months.
