Portraits of Refugee Children on the Island of Kos. 03 September 2015.

MSF teams work around the town of Kos to distribute hygiene kits and provide tents for refugees to use while the have to wait for unknown amounts of time to obtain their papers allowing them to move on to Athens. Every week-day morning the MSF mobile clinic, held in a van around the town, offers medical consultations to those who need medical care. This is made up of a team of doctors, nurses and cultural mediators (to translate for the refugees). Also a health promoter informs refugees in the town that it is taking place. The island of Kos has seen huge amounts of people arriving to it's shores in July and August ( totalling 18,654 for Jan- July 2015) - but still no formal reception system is in place and many sleep in tents on the side of road. Many of those in that situation have told MSF - at home we had war, but at least we had our dignity.
