Amongst the people that we treat, some already had symptoms that were aggravated.
Others are new patients that we are starting to treat now and they show symptoms of depression, anxiety and nervousness.

The cases we see are connected to the situation in Lebanon
It started with the revolution, the economic issues, and it worsened due to COVID-19,
And then the blast which was the tipping point.
People are on constantly on edge fearing that something else might happen.
Especially since after the explosion, there was another fire at the port.

Five weeks after explosion

One of our patients is a 40-year old woman. She was living a very normal life, with her kids.
She was socially active and went out regularly with friends and family.
Her house looks directly on the port.
Since the explosion, 2 months now, she hasn’t left the house except once, and that one trip really disturbed her.
We are trying to support her through home visits, or remotely by phone.

Home is supposed to be a safe place, but the sudden nature of the explosion has lead people to lose the sense of safety and security in their homes.
And if they can’t find safety at home, how can they find it outside?
