I'm happy.
My name is Sara. I'm a medical doctor
from Switzerland and I'm here in Tanzania Liwale with a new part supporting
the project with ultrasound.
So now we are going to perform an ultrasound where we are just going to check
how the position of the baby is and what the danger signs are. The main goal
of the whole project is also to reduce maternal mortality and another way to achieve that is prevention.
Many women from the periphery don't have access to health care, to monitor how the pregnancy goes, what the risk factors are, what potential danger exist
in their pregnancy therefore they need ultrasound.
But ultrasound is only available in the district hospital, which is far away from the periphery. As a solution we can bring the ultrasound to them and check if they have any risk factors and if they need to give birth in the bigger hospital. What we now also always do is to check the size of the baby and do the standard measurements. And while we measure we just found a second head. We are having twins!
