- When the blast hit, I immediately moved this way here, my wife and I got down on the ground
- A big rock fell here, they later lifted it with a truck
- The rock came from the port, it hit the stairs and then hit the other building and left a hole in 5 floors
- We tried to go down but we couldn’t
- We saw a hole of 30-40 cms, we went down through it to check on the kids

One month after the Beirut explosion, people are now coming to terms with how that day impacted their lives.

- We used to live a happy life, we used to go the beach, to restaurants
- Now a lot of things have changed for us
Lady 1:
- When the strong blast hit, the clock fell on the ground
- The clock still shows 6:10
Lady 2:
- I felt like the house was shaking, and I felt that at any moment the ceiling will collapse, and I didn’t know what will happen
Man 2:
- I flew off my bike
- I flew, then I fell to the ground
- I didn’t know what was happening
- I saw people screaming, people holding their heads
Lady 3:
- It was just a matter of a few seconds; I was telling him “look where the fire is now…”, and the blast hit
- I wanted to go out of the room but I didn’t have the time
Lady 2:
- My husband stepped out of the room, from that entrance, with his head tilted like this
- There was a lot of blood coming out of his neck
- When I saw this, I started screaming
Lady 3:
- I touched my face and felt like it was wounded
- I felt like there’s something wrong
- I put my hands on my face again and a lot of blood was coming out
Lady 4:
- What matters to me is that my son who’s a firefighter wasn’t at work
- All I cared about was that he had coffee with me in the morning and went back to his house

The mental scars may take a while to heal, but today people want to rebuild

Man 1:
- What happened will stay in our memories and theirs
- I still can’t believe that my children and I are safe
- I’m not thinking about the furniture and the walls
- I’m just thinking that my children are still alive, that’s what matters the most
Lady 4:
- I’m not tired, it’s okay, everything will pass.
- We went through a war and we weren’t tired. We won’t give upon life.
- It’s just one explosion, will it really make the difference now?
Lady 2:
- From the very first moment, I started working to repair my house to re-live in it.
Lady 1:
- After the explosion, I’m not expecting anything
- I don’t know, I don’t know anything besides God
- I just ask God to never leave me
Lady 3:
- A nightmare? No, it’s just fate, Thank God we’re okay.
- But it’s also negligence from some people, and innocent people paid the price
