1) What is the situation in Ituri Province today?

Hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes because of violence in Ituri province.
They left their homes and sought shelter because of ongoing fighting.

2) Can you give us a bit of background on the current crisis?

The current violence started in December 2017, and after a lull in January there was a flare-up in February of this year.

3) What are MSF teams doing at the moment to respond to people’s needs?

In the town of Bunia we are supporting the camp where around 5,000 displaced people are currently living.
In Bunia we support three health centres.
We have donated kits containing blankets, mosquito nets and soap.
We are also supporting the water supply to the camp and have built latrines and showers.

4) How does MSF think the situation in Ituri is going to evolve?

What’s striking is the number of people currently on the move. One day you see people
in a displacement camp and the next they have already left.
