The condition of her arms was gradually improving
But her legs were still stiff
And she couldn’t open her mouth properly
Recovery was a slow business after all

“I…want…you…to…hold…me…”
The father feared that a hug would set off another painful spasm
I only did one action
Before I turned to the other patient in the room

In that moment, she was slightly bending her knees!
Her jaw was no longer clenched
I almost burst into tears

Love may not be a drug
But it is as powerful as any medicine
