I’m here in Mangina, in the Ebola treatment centre.
Let me show you round.

SLATE 1
MSF opened this centre on August 14th.
Mangina, a town in North Kivu,
is the epicentre of this latest Ebola outbreak.

First we wash our hands.
This is where our boots get disinfected and then my temperature is taken.
Your temperature is …
My body temperature is 36.5°C.
This is the triage area. Suspect Ebola patients sit over there, on those 4 chairs on the other side.
We’re supposed to keep a distance of 2 metres. The medical team works here.
This is the area where medical meetings and some medical training sessions are held.
Here’s the Ebola centre’s pharmacy. This is where we keep the drugs we use to treat patients with the Ebola virus.
And here’s where we have to suit up before entering the high-risk zone.
Up until now we’ve been in the neutral zone.

SLATE 2
For the first time,
MSF is offering patients
developmental treatments.

Now I’m going to show you how the Ebola centre is set up.
Here we have the first zone, which has 6 tents for suspected cases.
Suspected cases have symptoms consistent with those of Ebola virus disease.
Then we have the zone for probable cases. Probable cases are people who’ve been in contact with confirmed Ebola cases.
After the zone for probable cases, we have the confirmed cases zone. These patients have had blood samples taken that have tested positive for the Ebola virus.
Blood samples taken in the Ebola treatment centre are brought to the laboratory.
Hi everyone.
This is where the samples are analysed. We get the results after 4 hours.
When we leave the confirmed cases zone, we go straight into the decontamination zone.
There’s a whole ritual for decontaminating.
