For more than four years, Doctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been running an emergency trauma surgical programme in Ramtha, northern Jordan, which has been treating Syrians wounded in the prolonged conflict in Syria.

Although the conflict continues, the number of war-wounded patients referred to Jordan from the southern Syrian hospitals has plummeted significantly since July 2017. This sharp drop in the number of patients has left the MSF facility semi-vacant and rendered MSF’s presence in Ramtha hospital no longer viable.

In view of this change, MSF has taken the difficult decision to close Ramtha project.
