Drawings done by a children who participated in the mental health programme that MSF runs in Diffa (Niger) to assist the victims of violence and conflict. Since late 2014, the region of Diffa in southern Niger has been caught in armed conflict. Two-hundred and fifty-thousand people have been forced out of their homes, two thirds of them children. Fighting, flight and loss have had a devastating impact on their lives. In Diffa, MSF is running a mental health and psychosocial support program. To integrate more young patients into the MSF’s program, our teams trained 100 community workers in identifying the most frequent symptoms of mental health problems. Thanks to this strategy, the number of children assisted by MSF has increased exponentially.
