The French authorities daily violate the law and the rights of refugees and migrants on the French-Italian border as in Menton, the first city in France after Ventimiglia on the Italian side. The reinstatement of border controls in 2015 has become the pretext for the trivialization of many illegal practices such as systematic refoulement of asylum seekers in Italy. Added to this are daily tensions and the fatal play of cat and mouse that the French authorities are engaged in and in which people on the move are increasingly endangered. In trains from Ventimiglia, all stopped and controlled at Menton Garavan, facies checks, however prohibited, are the norm. After a course often chaotic and violent, some do not hesitate to take additional risks to cross the border, sometimes risking their lives.
