Additional Information / Shotlist Decontamination is an essential step in controlling an Ebola outbreak. Transmitted by bodily fluids, the virus must be destroyed wherever a confirmed patient has passed. This is regularly the case in the health centres in North Kivu that MSF supports and for which its decontamination teams intervene as soon as possible to prevent new infections. In some less accessible areas, the choice was made to train community relays in this practice so that they in turn could put in place these essential protection measures. Report with volunteers from the Congolese Red Cross.

La décontamination est une étape essentielle dans le contrôle d’une épidémie d’Ebola. Transmis par des fluides corporels, le virus doit être détruit partout où un patient confirmé est passé. C’est régulièrement le cas dans les centres de santé du Nord-Kivu que MSF soutient et pour lesquels, ses équipes de décontamination interviennent dans les plus brefs délais pour éviter de nouvelles infections. Dans certaines zones moins accessibles, le choix a été fait de former des relais communautaires à cette pratique pour qu’à leur tour, ils puissent mettre en place ces mesures de protection indispensables.
