-An MSF team is about to head off to the Osman Valley about 100km north of Yemen’s capital, Sana’a.
-The road is bad and the people there are very cut off.
-Because of the war, people are not systematically screened for malaria or given any protection or treatment. Yet it’s endemic in the region.

These people could die of malaria if they don’t get treatment. If it severe malaria develops, it can reach the brain and cause death.

-If these people don’t get treatment, malaria will kill them. They’ll get sicker and sicker, it’ll reach the brain and they’ll die.
-In 2017, MSF treated over 10,000 patients suffering from malaria. Teams also raise awareness among the population and distribute mosquito nets.
-While diphtheria and cholera have been the centre of attention in recent months,
malaria continues to affect thousands of people in endemic areas like Amran governorate.

-Cette équipe de MSF se prépare pour aller dans la vallée d’Osman, à une centaine de kilomètres au nord de la capitale, Sana’a.
-La route est difficile. Les habitants de cette région sont complètement isolés.
- Conséquence de la guerre, le dépistage du paludisme n’est pas systématique et ils ne reçoivent ni protection, ni traitement. Pourtant, la maladie est endémique ici.

« Si aucun soin n’est apporté à ces gens, le paludisme pourrait les tuer. Il peut progresser, atteindre le cerveau, et entraîner la mort. »

-En 2017, MSF a traité plus de 10 000 patients contre le paludisme, sensibilisé la population et distribué des moustiquaires.
-Les épidémies de diphtérie et de choléra ont reçu beaucoup d’attention ces derniers mois.
-Mais dans des régions vulnérables comme ici, dans le gouvernorat d’Amran, le paludisme touche des milliers de personnes.
