Janet fled Ituri province
in the Demorcatic Republic of Congo (DRC)
with her three children.
They found refuge in Uganda.
People were being slaughtered.
They were being murdered with guns, machetes, bow and arrows.

My home was totally destroyed. They even killed our goats.
My mother and the rest of our family are still in DRC.
I’m so worried, we’ve lost all contact with them.

When the attacks began, we all ran to the boats.
But my husband ran in the other direction.
I lost everything during the journey here.
I have nothing now.
I don’t even have a cup to drink water.
As we crossed the lake, we could see the houses burning behind us.
