We see around 300 patients a day. A third are children, the rest come for a fairly wide range of disorders. We see two to three cases of measles every day. There are more and more cases because it’s extremely contagious. We’re starting to see people with diarrhoea, which is only to be expected. Quite a few patients have coughs because it gets quite cold at night. Then there’s diabetes, high blood pressure, injuries—a bit of everything. But we’re only seeing people from a small part of the camp. The camp’s very spread out. It’s really difficult for people further out to get to a health centre. There’s still no medical care available in some areas.

We have community health care workers who are out and about in the community, talking to the new arrivals, explaining to them where our clinics are, trying to make sure that everybody knows that, if they need health care, MSF can provide high quality health care despite the limitations and the resources.
